Payroll Trainee – Oxford

We have several offices in Central and Southern England and have ambitious plans to expand our business. To support the organisation’s growth, we have a new opportunity for a Payroll Trainee to join our team. Based in Oxford, this is a permanent full-time role with flexible working options (flexing your hours on different days to suit your lifestyle).

The Role

This is a Trainee position and full training and support will be given to develop your skills and abilities for a long-term career within our practice. Your key responsibilities would include the below:

  • Build productive working relationships within Shaw Gibbs and with clients as required
  • Develop and apply your technical knowledge through on-the-job training and formal qualifications
  • Process payrolls on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly basis (or as directed) for a range of clients of various sizes and from a diverse range of businesses
  • Process starters and leavers, calculating statutory payments, RTI submissions, Pension Deductions etc.
  • Liaise directly with clients to ensure accuracy of payroll data and answer phone queries, resolve problems and provide payroll support
  • Communicate with clients, other staff, Directors and the HM Revenue & Customs

About You

We would like to hear from you if you are a quick learner and can tick all of the below:

  • Relevant work experience would be great but not essential
  • Educated to A Level (or equivalent standard) or higher e.g. degree
  • If you are a school leaver – you must have a minimum of 3 A Levels at grades B, B, C or higher
  • Strong aptitude for IT, specifically Excel
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven communication skills, verbal and written
  • A positive, confident and proactive attitude
  • Enjoy working as part of a team and self-motivated
  • Willing to undertake and succeed in a range of professional studies
