Fred Cowgill

Area of expertise: All aspects of VAT planning for across a variety of sectors.

Fred has an established career spanning over 38 years in a wide variety of fields within VAT, including setting up one of the first independent VAT practices in the UK.

He helped to establish the Institute of Indirect Tax Practitioners (later the Institute of Indirect Taxation) and as well as having been the founding President, is also a Member and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute. Fred is also a Member of the Institute of Management and has qualifications in Management and Business Administration.

Fred has experience of working with many sectors; in particular, he was instrumental in masterminding a £1.3 billion repayment for the optical industry.

In his spare time, Fred takes an active interest in drama, having performed in or directed over 70 plays and pantomimes over the past 40 years. Fred is also a lawn green bowler and Captain of the village club.
