Assistant Payroll Manager – growing firm, flexible & hybrid working

We have a new opportunity for an Assistant Payroll Manager to join our growing Oxford based Outsourced Payroll Bureau team. This full-time permanent position comes with hybrid and flexible working options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the workflow for the Payroll team, monitor time allocations, budgets and deadlines and provide key data points
  • Line manage some of our junior team members, helping to grow and develop their knowledge and skills
  • Liaise with clients to build relationships, develop payroll systems and ensure payroll data accuracy
  • Provide technical advice and respond to ad hoc queries
  • Provide a complete payroll service for a range of clients of various sizes and from a diverse range of businesses 
  • Prepare P45s, P14s, P60s, P46s and other relevant forms as required
  • Provide a pension auto enrolment service to clients
  • Prepare quotes for potential new clients and ensure they get a high-quality onboarding service

About You
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience, ideally in a payroll bureau environment
  • People management experience
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, organisation and client management skills
  • Focused on delivering on time and to high standards
  • Strong technical payroll knowledge and a growth mindset
  • Enjoy working as part of a team
  • Confident, positive, professional and can-do attitude
  • Strong IT skills, specifically Excel and able to pick up new IT packages very quickly
