Audit Senior - Oxford/ London office

Are you an ACCA/ACA qualified Accountant (or a finalist) with a practice background? Are you looking for a job in a growing entrepreneurial firm bursting with talented staff you could learn and develop from? Do you want interesting client work across many sectors?

If so, we could have the perfect role for you. Shaw Gibbs is an independent top 100 firm with offices in Oxford and London. We are experiencing growth in both offices and we are now looking for an Audit Senior to join our Oxford team.

This is a full time role and will be based in our Oxford office. You may be required to occasionally work in our London office.

About the Audit Senior opportunity

Now is a great time to be joining Shaw Gibbs. We are expanding both our London and Oxford offices and this additional Audit Senior will play a key role in developing our client base and technical expertise.

Using a variety of accounting software packages including CCH, Caseware, Sage and Xero, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead a variety of interesting and complex assignments across multiple sectors
  • Prepare audit files, undertake audit planning and lead/assist with fieldwork
  • Manage and develop the client relationship
  • Prepare statutory accounts (including consolidated accounts)
  • Produce corporation tax computations and returns
  • Prepare and manage assignment budgets and costs
  • Assist in work allocation and supervise more junior team members on audits, providing support, training and reviewing their work
  • Ensure assignments are completed to a high standard, in time and within budgets agreed with Directors
  • Develop specialist sector knowledge and keep up to date with industry developments
  • Complete all work to the firm's compliance and quality standards
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities
  • Support in business development activities

What we are looking for

To be considered for this position, you must be ACCA/ACA qualified (or very nearly qualified) and have at least 3 years audit (and accounts) UK practice experience. You will also:

  • Have a degree or equivalent
  • Have audit experience in OMB/SMEs and a working knowledge of UK GAAP
  • Be commercially aware with strong technical skills and able to interpret rules into basic language for clients
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be fully fluent in English (verbally & in writing)
  • Have an outstanding customer service focus & attention to detail
  • Have strong IT skills (e.g. excel, Sage, Quickbooks & Xero) and enjoy using the latest technology
  • Have experience supervising teams & reviewing their work
  • Strong team player
  • Enjoy developing expertise within the team
  • Be confident, assertive and have a professional, can-do attitude
