Corporate Tax Director / Associate Director - London or Oxford office

This is an outstanding career opportunity to lead and grow a specialist corporate tax division in an independent firm with offices in Oxford and London. Our current Head of Division is looking to retire and we are recruiting for an experienced corporate tax professional with a mid-tier firm background to take over the existing division.

About the vacancy

We are looking for a driven and ambitious individual with a strong technical background who can deliver a wide range of corporate tax advisory services, but who also possesses business development and relationship skills required to generate new business.

Ultimately reporting to the Managing Director, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Assist UK and international clients to structure their affairs tax efficiently.
  • Advise clients on a full range of services including group re-organisations and restructurings, incorporations, international tax, income extraction, tax mitigation, R&D claims, EIS schemes, HMRC valuations, corporate tax investigations and negotiations, employment related securities, and employee share schemes including EMI
  • Increase our Oxford and London client base
  • Help manage the client relationship to become the trusted business advisor
  • Work closely with Shaw Gibbs directors and the personal tax team to ensure the firm is providing a full range of high quality tax services for our clients
  • Review more complex tax returns and computations
  • Plan and manage the work being delivered by the Corporate Tax division
  • Measure and monitor the division’s KPIs
  • Line manage and develop the staff in the corporate tax team
  • Create and implement a corporate tax business strategy, consulting and drawing upon the expertise of the Board
  • Further develop our relationship with the DFK International network

You can be based in either our Oxford or London office and will spend time each week in both.

Longer term, we anticipate you will progress to Director provided you have proven yourself by developing the practice.

This role would ideally suit a senior Corporate Tax professional from a large firm looking for the opportunity to head up and grow their own division.

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrable experience of corporate and business tax advisory
  • CTA or equivalent and ACA/ACCA qualified
  • Ability to advise both individuals and businesses on current tax affairs
  • Proven experience of significantly moving a practice forward through business development
  • Strong international tax advice knowledge and experience e.g. double taxation relief and double taxation treaties, transfer pricing and capitalisation
  • Excellent communication skills and confident in leading client/business development seminars
  • Highly commercial approach
  • Specialism in property tax would be a great advantage
