HR Assistant - Oxford Office

Our HR team are responsible for leading and delivering the HR strategy and we also provide HR advice and guidance to a number of our clients.

To support our ambitious growth plans, we are expanding our HR team by recruiting an HR Assistant to join our Oxford team. This is an exciting time to be joining Shaw Gibbs in an HR role as we are about to implement a number of new HR initiatives and projects which you will be involved in. Your role will be varied, stimulating and hugely rewarding. We have around 100 staff based across our two offices.

This is a full time permanent position.

About the role

The HR Assistant will work closely with the HR Manager and HR Adviser to support all HR and Recruitment activities at Shaw Gibbs. You will provide a proactive, efficient and high quality HR service. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • acting as a point of contact for employees and managers on HR and training related queries
  • assisting with all aspects of recruitment and onboarding
  • coordinating training and development activities
  • providing admin support across the whole employee lifecycle.

It can be a busy and demanding role and you will need to be highly organised, methodical and flexible in your approach. It is also essential that you have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

About You

  • At least 2 years HR experience in a similar fast-paced environment with some exposure to recruitment
  • CIPD qualification would be advantageous but not essential
  • Educated to A Level (or equivalent standard) or higher e.g. degree
  • Enthusiastic, approachable and professional
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-confident, tactful and discreet manner
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Strong team player with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Strong aptitude for IT - able to pick up new IT packages very quickly
