We have a new opportunity for a Learning and Development Consultant. This is an exciting additional hire for the HR team to support the company’s ambitious business plans. We will have HR generalists in our regional hubs and more specialist HR roles based in our Oxford office. You will therefore be based in Oxford but as with all our roles, there will be hybrid and flexible working options.
This is a permanent role and we are open to this role being part time or full time. There will be some travel expected in this role to build relationships across our regional hubs and deliver L&D solutions.
Reporting to the Head of HR, your role will be to drive the L&D side of our employee proposition, bringing about positive changes and improvements that contribute to achieving our growth goals. You will have the full support of the HR team to make this new role a success.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for all L&D queries, providing advice and guidance to managers, employees and the HR generalists
- Coordinate professional qualification training programmes across all office locations
- Project manage the implementation of key L&D programmes e.g. our Management Development Programme. Drive through improvements to the design and branding of this programme. Personally deliver some of core management skills modules.
- Manage training budgets and the relationships with training providers
- Provide coaching and mentoring support for managers
- In collaboration with the business and the Head of HR, develop a company wide L&D strategy aligned to our business plans, vision and values.
- Create departmental L&D plans, measuring the effectiveness of all solutions with a clear return on investment
- Ensure that our L&D employee proposition is consistently applied across all sites
- Engage with key stakeholders to understand development needs and to ensure buy-in, alignment and successful delivery of training and development solutions
- Look for ways to improve the efficiency of L&D activities through better and more innovative use of technology
- Input into our performance management processes
- Measure and monitor L&D KPIs and ROI providing data insights
- Promote a culture of learning and development to inspire and enhance teams to achieve
These are the types of projects you will involved in upon starting at Shaw Gibbs:
- Lead the annual roll out of our Management Development Programme across new offices and work with our marketing team to promote and brand this programme
- Develop our mentoring and high potential programmes
- The people integration of all future acquisitions – help to ensure our values continue to underpin our culture as we expand
- Identify and assess skills and capabilities gaps, leading solutions to develop gaps
- Play a key role in our company wise EDI team (equality, diversity & inclusion)

What you will need to succeed:
- Strong background in L&D within an HR team in a fast paced corporate environment
- Experience of supporting a multi-site business, able to drive and prepared to travel to the various Shaw Gibbs offices as required
- Excellent planning and organising skills, able to manage multiple projects and programmes simultaneously to meet business and learner requirements
- Confident in designing and delivering both digital and face to face learning solutions
- Experienced and engaging facilitator with large and small groups of delegates
- Collaborative and able to positively influence others
- Self starter with a with a high level of resilience and attention to detail
- Strong commercial insight with powerful communication skills
- Hands on approach
- Any of the following would be a great advantage: psychometric/personality profiling qualifications and merger and acquisition experience
