Due to growth, we are recruiting for Audit & Accounts Trainee Accountants in our Farnham office. These permanent full time positions come with a comprehensive induction and full funding to pursue professional qualifications.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start a career in accountancy. During your training period, you will do a mixture of accounts preparation work and audit.

The Role
These are Trainee positions and full training and support will be given to develop your skills and abilities for a long-term career within our practice. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Building productive working relationships within Shaw Gibbs and with clients as required
- Developing and applying your technical knowledge through on the job training and formal qualifications
- Using accounting software to provide accurate reporting for Managers, Partners and clients
- Producing profit and loss accounts and balance sheets
- Preparing basic tax computations and returns e.g. corporation tax
- Preparing working papers including bank reconciliations, other reconciliations and manual control accounts
- Helping to prepare statutory accounts and finalise accounts under the overall supervision of your Manager
- Assisting more senior members of staff on audit to include, for example, checking bank reconciliations, attending at stock takes, preparing profit and loss schedules and assisting with the audit of debtors and creditors.
About You
We would like to hear from you if you are a quick learner and can tick all of the below:
- Educated to A ‘Level (or equivalent standard) or higher e.g. degree
- If you are a school leaver – you must have a minimum of 3 A Levels at grades B, B, C or higher
- Strong aptitude for IT, specifically Excel
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Proven communication skills, verbal and written
- A positive, confident and proactive attitude
- Enjoy working as part of a team and self-motivated
- Willingness to undertake and succeed in a range of professional studies
- Relevant work experience and/or experience of working within a practice environment would be great but not essential
