Local authorities will now be administering two new grant schemes as requested by the Government. Payments will be made to businesses from two new funding pots on a discretionary basis.
These grants include:
Business Grant for nightclubs
A non-discretionary grant will be available for a four day period between the 1-4 November 2020 and then after lockdown.
During national lockdown the businesses will be entitled to the National Lockdown Grant.
Take-away licence has been extended
Pubs, wine bars, dine-in restaurants and cafés are now able to operate a hot and cold food takeaway service. This means they don’t have to go through the usual planning process for another year from November 2020.
Venues that are aiming to operate as a takeaway, should inform the Council they are still operating but do not need prior approval. Depending upon their lease agreements, landlords may also need to be notified in order to operate as a takeaway. Businesses will turn to their former lawful use, if the business stops as a takeaway service before or on 23rd March 2022.
Payment Licences for winter al fresco schemes
In order for an al fresco dining scheme to be agreed for your area a Pavement Licence application needs to be submitted, if you wish to carry on serving customers after lockdown. Businesses wishing to use electric heaters also need to submit a risk assessment with their application.
