Meet the team
Area of expertise:
All aspects of financial planning for individuals and SMEs.
Ed joined Shaw Gibbs in 2010, having spent 11 years advising clients in Oxford and the Midlands. Prior to that Ed worked for several major insurance companies, primarily training advisers for professional qualifications. He provides holistic financial planning encompassing pre and post retirement planning, investment portfolio structures, estate planning, and family succession.
Ed is one of the very few financial planners who achieved Fellowship of both the Institute of Financial Planning and The Personal Finance Society and has since added Chartered Wealth Manager to his Chartered Financial Planner and Certified Financial Planner designations. These achievements demonstrate his wealth of technical expertise in all areas of financial planning. Nevertheless, he believes in making the technicalities understandable to clients and empowers them by helping them understand how the planning process benefits their goals and finances.
Ed is married with three children and nearly 40 years on from graduation still views himself as a historian who happens to have fallen into financial planning. A huge rugby fan, with his playing and coaching days over, he is now enjoying the more relaxed life of a VP at Buckingham Rugby Club. As a social cricketer, his highlight was an “international” appearance against Estonia in which he took one wicket, took one catch and scored one run.
